Careful Work at the Bench.
Your Timepiece, Attended to Properly.
Petherwick Bench offers considered mechanical watch services — regulator adjustment, full overhaul, and care guidance — for owners who value quiet, thorough work.
Three Focused Bench Programmes
Watch Regulator Adjustment
A focused bench service where the regulator of a mechanical wristwatch is adjusted to bring daily rate within acceptable parameters across multiple positions. The studio measures rate, amplitude, and beat error on a calibration stand, then makes small, deliberate changes.
- Multi-position rate measurement
- Beat error check and correction
- Amplitude observation
- Written findings shared with owner
Complete Service & Bracelet Refit
A combined bench programme covering full mechanical overhaul and careful refit of an original vintage bracelet. Movement work follows the studio's standard protocol: disassembly, cleaning, component attention, lubrication, reassembly, and timing. Bracelet work covers pins, links, clasp, and ultrasonic cleaning.
- Full movement disassembly & cleaning
- Lubrication with period-appropriate oils
- Multi-position timing after service
- Bracelet pin & link inspection
- Brush refinishing along original lines
Watch Care Calendar Conversation
A short informational conversation covering a sensible calendar of small care moments across the year — rotation of automatic pieces, winding habits during storage, bracelet cleaning, and similar quiet routines. Concludes with a brief written summary to keep alongside your service records.
- Annual rotation and winding guidance
- Storage recommendations
- Bracelet care notes
- Written summary provided
A Studio Built on Careful Habits
Measured, Not Rushed
Each piece receives the time it requires. There are no arbitrary deadlines imposed on bench work at this studio.
Written Observations Shared
The studio notes its findings in writing and shares them with the owner, whether or not further work follows from them.
Respect for Original Character
Surfaces are not altered beyond what a service requires. Patina and original finishing are treated as part of a piece's history.
Period-Appropriate Lubrication
Lubricant choices are considered for the age and design of the calibre, not simply applied from a standard kit.
Open Communication
Owners are informed of what was observed and what was done. Questions about the work are welcomed throughout and after the service.
Local Studio, Personal Attention
Based in Kuantan, Pahang. Owners drop off and collect their pieces in person, maintaining a direct connection throughout the service.
Have a piece that needs attention?
Bring your mechanical wristwatch in for a proper look. The studio will share what it observes and, where appropriate, discuss what work may be worthwhile.
Before Your First Visit
How do I know if my watch needs a regulator adjustment or a full service?
If a piece is running consistently fast or slow but otherwise winds and runs without interruption, a regulator adjustment is worth exploring first. If the movement has not been serviced in many years, shows inconsistent running, or stops unexpectedly, a complete service is more appropriate. The studio will share its observation at the initial review.
How long does a service typically take?
A regulator adjustment is generally completed within four to seven working days. A complete service with bracelet refit takes two to four weeks depending on the piece and part availability. The Care Calendar Conversation is arranged as a short appointment. The studio provides a time estimate at intake.
Do you work on quartz or battery-powered watches?
The studio focuses on mechanical movements — manual-wind and automatic calibres. Battery and quartz-driven pieces are outside the current scope of bench work offered here.
Will my watch look polished or refinished after the service?
Not unless specifically discussed and agreed. The studio treats original surfaces with respect and does not polish or re-finish cases or bracelets as a default. Where bracelet work is included, refinishing follows the original lines and removes only what ultrasonic cleaning and brush work reasonably addresses.
Can I observe the work being done?
Brief visits during the service are welcomed with prior arrangement. The studio finds that owners who understand what is being done tend to be better stewards of their pieces over the years. Contact the studio to discuss timing.
What should I bring when dropping off a piece?
Bring the watch and any original box, papers, or previous service records you may have. These help the studio understand the piece's history. They are not required, but they are useful. If you have a specific concern or observation about the piece's behaviour, note it down in advance — specific descriptions are more helpful than general impressions.
