Brought in my late father's Seiko 5 that had been keeping quite poor time. The studio measured it before doing anything and gave me a clear picture of where it stood. After the adjustment it came back running within about three seconds a day. What I appreciated was the written note explaining what had been done — nothing fancy, just a clear account.

I had the complete service done on a vintage Omega that was stopping every few days. The whole process took about three weeks, which was longer than I expected, but I was kept informed at the important stages. The bracelet came back looking properly cleaned without being over-polished — which is exactly what I had asked for. It has been wearing well since.

The care calendar conversation was a straightforward session. I have four automatic watches and no real system for managing when I wear each one or how to store the ones I'm not using. The watchmaker walked me through a simple monthly rotation and a couple of small storage considerations. The written summary at the end has been genuinely useful to refer back to.

My husband's Tudor had not been serviced in close to fifteen years. I was hesitant about handing it over somewhere unfamiliar but the initial conversation gave me enough confidence to proceed. The watchmaker noted two components that were showing wear and asked whether I wanted to proceed with replacing them before doing anything further. I appreciated that the choice was mine.

Had a regulator adjustment done on a mid-1970s Citizen that was running about twenty seconds fast a day. The result was not perfect — it's now running around six or seven seconds fast — but the watchmaker explained that this calibre has a known limitation with the regulator design and was honest about what could realistically be achieved without a deeper service. That honesty is worth something.

Maran, Pahang
I drove from Maran for the complete service on a vintage Longines with an original bracelet that had several loose links. The combined programme was well priced for what it covered — I'd have spent more getting the movement and bracelet attended to separately elsewhere. The piece came back looking and running as it should. No complaints at all.

Three Pieces, Three Stories
A Manual-Wind Seiko with Persistent Rate Variation
The Situation
The owner had noticed the watch gaining around eighteen to twenty seconds per day when worn, dropping to roughly ten when unworn. He had recently purchased the piece and wanted to understand whether this variation was something a regulator adjustment could address or whether it reflected deeper mechanical concerns.
The Bench Work
Multi-position measurement confirmed the rate differential was primarily positional rather than amplitude-related, suggesting the regulator index could be moved. Two small adjustments were made across separate passes with re-measurement between each. The beat error was within acceptable range and required no change.
The Outcome
After adjustment the piece measured between +2 and +5 seconds per day across positions — well within comfortable daily-wear range. The owner collected it on day five and reported continued stability after two weeks of wear. A written summary with before-and-after measurements was provided.
"The numbers told the story better than any description would have. I could see exactly what changed and why."
A Vintage Omega Constellation with an Ageing Original Bracelet
The Situation
An owner brought in a late-1960s Omega Constellation that had not been serviced in an unknown period. The movement was stopping intermittently and the original Milanese-style bracelet had two pins that were no longer secure. The owner wanted both addressed in one visit.
The Bench Work
Full disassembly confirmed that the mainspring had fatigued and one jewel showed evidence of dried lubricant. The owner was consulted on mainspring replacement before work continued. Bracelet work involved re-pinning two links, tightening a clasp spring, and ultrasonic cleaning followed by light brush finishing along original directional lines.
The Outcome
The movement was reassembled and after a post-service run-in period measured consistently between -3 and +7 seconds per day across positions. The bracelet wore securely with a noticeably improved drape. The service took twenty-two days. The piece was collected with a written summary and the replaced mainspring set aside for the owner's records.
"It wears the way it should have all along. I'm glad I had it done here rather than sending it away."
An Owner With Three Automatics and No System
The Situation
The owner had three automatic watches — two worn regularly and one stored — and was unsure whether wearing all three on rotation was better or worse for them than focusing on one at a time. He was also uncertain about the stored piece, which had been unworn for roughly a year.
The Session
The watchmaker walked through the rationale for periodic winding of stored automatics, the general effect of very frequent vs infrequent power reserve cycling on mainspring wear, and a simple rotation framework suited to three pieces across a monthly period. The owner's specific pieces and their known service histories were discussed where relevant.
The Outcome
The owner left with a one-page written summary outlining a monthly rotation schedule and a note on the stored piece recommending a gentle wind once a month to prevent lubricant from settling. No repair work was needed or recommended at that stage. The session lasted fifty minutes.
"A short conversation that sorted out something I'd been thinking about for a while. The written summary made it easy to remember."
