Three Programmes, Each With a Clear Scope and a Stated Price
Each service at rambutanw is defined before it begins. Read what is included, what the process involves, and which programme suits your piece.
Back to HomeThe Bench Method
Every piece that arrives at rambutanw is received by the watchmaker personally. An initial conversation takes place — the owner describes what they have observed, and the studio confirms which programme is appropriate for the piece. There is no anonymous drop-off counter.
Once the scope is agreed, work proceeds according to the programme's defined steps. No additional work is carried out without a separate conversation and the owner's agreement. The studio keeps the owner informed if anything changes during the bench review.
All measurement data is recorded before and after each programme. These figures form part of the written summary given to the owner at collection. The summary is a practical record — not a promotional certificate — and is genuinely useful at the next service interval.
After a complete service, the movement is run on the timing stand for a further period before the piece is released. This confirms that the rate has settled into an expected range rather than simply looking correct at the moment of reassembly.
Watch Regulator Adjustment
A focused bench service in which the regulator of a mechanical wristwatch is adjusted to bring daily rate within acceptable parameters across multiple positions. Suitable for pieces whose timing has drifted with everyday wear but which show no signs of requiring a full overhaul. Where deeper causes are found, the studio shares its findings without obligation.
What is Included
- Multi-position rate measurement on calibration stand
- Amplitude and beat error observation
- Regulator and stud carrier adjustment where calibre permits
- Re-measurement after each pass of work
- Written summary of findings provided
Process Steps
- 1Initial intake — piece examined and condition noted
- 2Calibration stand measurement across positions
- 3Regulator adjustments made in controlled increments
- 4Final measurement and summary preparation
- 5Owner collection and findings discussion
Wristwatch Complete Service with Vintage Bracelet Refit
A combined bench programme covering full mechanical service and careful refit of the original vintage bracelet. Movement work follows the studio's overhaul protocol. Bracelet work covers pin inspection, link tightening, clasp attention, and ultrasonic cleaning with brush refinishing along original lines. Designed for vintage pieces whose owners wish to address mechanical and bracelet concerns together rather than across separate visits.
What is Included
- Full movement disassembly, cleaning, and inspection
- Replacement of fatigued components where necessary
- Lubrication with appropriate period-considered materials
- Reassembly and multi-position timing
- Bracelet pin, link, and clasp inspection and attention
- Ultrasonic cleaning and brush refinishing along original lines
- Post-service run-in period before release
Process Steps
- 1Intake — movement and bracelet condition assessed
- 2Disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning of all parts
- 3Component inspection and replacement consultation
- 4Lubrication, reassembly, and timing
- 5Bracelet work — pins, links, clasp, and finishing
- 6Run-in period, final measurement, summary preparation
Watch Care Calendar Conversation
A short informational conversation in which the owner discusses with the studio a sensible calendar of small care moments across the year: rotation of automatic pieces, winding of manual-wind pieces during long storage, removal of bracelets for occasional cleaning, and similar gentle routines. Concludes with a brief written summary. Informational only — no repair work is included or implied.
What is Included
- Discussion of rotation habits for automatic movements
- Winding guidance for manual-wind pieces in storage
- Bracelet and case care recommendations
- Seasonal care calendar tailored to the owner's pieces
- Written summary provided for the owner's records
Session Format
- 1Appointment confirmed — owner describes their pieces
- 2Studio prepares a draft care calendar
- 3In-studio conversation — questions welcomed throughout
- 4Written summary handed to the owner

Standards Applied to Every Commission
Secure Piece Handling
Every piece is logged at intake with a reference number. Movement and case are stored separately during service and are not accessible to anyone other than the working watchmaker.
Recorded Measurement Data
Rate, amplitude, and beat error are measured and recorded at intake and at the close of work. These figures are included in the written summary given to the owner.
No Unsanctioned Surface Work
Casework and bracelet finishing are carried out only to the extent included in the programme or separately agreed. Original surfaces are not polished, buffed, or altered as a default action.
One Watchmaker Throughout
Each commission stays with a single person from intake to collection. There is no handoff between technicians at different stages of the work.
Written Summary Provided
Owners receive a plain-language written record of what was observed and done. This is prepared for every programme — not only for complete services.
Post-Collection Questions Welcome
If an owner has a question about their piece after collection, the studio is available. Questions about the work done or observations made after a service are welcomed for a reasonable period.
